It’s been a short minute since I did a weekly update. I’ve read a lot this year, I’m currently at 75 books/short stories/graphic novels and I’ve been enjoying myself. Not all have been great, some been good enough and a few gold pieces. I easily get behind on updating since I mostly write my blog posts on my phone but prefer doing them on a computer, it being easier to format how I want and everything.

Where are we at now? I’ve been meaning to do some catching up on the monthly wrap ups but it’s starting to feel a little late for some month. I’ll do them anyway since I don’t want to leave them out. I haven’t decided how to do with my mini reviews that I’m behind with. I’ve written some that are waiting, I think. Maybe I’ll just throw some of them into the monthly wrap ups where I have something to say?

I’m currently reading The Rose Code by Kate Quinn.

I’m mostly listening to it but also jump to the ebook at times when it’s more convenient to read with my eyes. I do have this book lying at mom’s waiting for me to read as a physical copy but it is very hard to put down so we’ll see how much of it is left when I borrow it.

What else is new? I did plant some plants together in a pot yesterday. Very pretty together and I’m curious to see if they in the future want to bloom at the same time or separately. This is usually not my favourite plant but they are so cute when they bloom!

I seem to be a list maker, especially when it comes to books, and when I make these lists I want to read all of it. I’ve recently made a list of all the books that I own (that I haven’t lent out to people) and I want to reread at least half of them.

I made a list of all the books Jenna has suggested for Read With Jenna and want to read all of them and make a challenge out of that. I don’t really know Jenna but there was a whole bunch of books that I hadn’t heard about before and it’s a fun thing that she recommends a book a month. I’ve read two of the 91 picked books since before, with average rating of 3 (out of 5).

I also made a list of the books Reese Witherspoon recommends to her book club. I’ve also read two out of 127, and did not finish one and have a couple more on my interest list. I’m more excited to read this bunch of books. Average rating of the two finished books are 4 stars!

Another list I made had the theme “All the books that BooksandLala have rated 4 or higher that is considered romance or fantasy with a prominent romantic subplot”. From there, I’ve read 26 out of 172 with an average rating of 3,59. I enjoy watching her videos but I didn’t think that we typically had a big overlap in the books we read so I was surprised that I had read so many!

At this point in this blog post I’m considering moving out this whole list section into it’s own blog post… Maybe if any of these reading challenges go anywhere I’ll do follow up posts?

The next list to be made was all the books we read in our old university book circle and I also added some facts about them, for example which country the author originates from and when the book was originally published. Since I cannot access the old list we made where we wrote the average rating of the books we read I tried to put something together based on peoples Goodreads to find the top (The Help by Katheryn Stockett) and bottom (Billy Summers by Stephen King) reads.

Connected to this , I also made a list of all the books that didn’t get picked for the book circle. Every time we are picking a book one person suggests three books that we then vote on. The one with the highest score gets picked and then the next time someone else suggests books. I started wondering if it was possible to see if we picked the “best” books for reading. Best in the sense that it got a high score from the people reading it. A book can be very interesting to discuss if people have different opinions and such and might be best suited for reading in that sense but I wanted to look at the numbers. Unfortunately it seems like many of the books haven’t been read of several people so we don’t really get an average. That means, that that would be a great challenge – to read books others have read in this list to get an average…

Speaking of reading what other people are reading, that is another thing I’ve been thinking about lately. I’ve been wanting to pick up the books my friends on Goodreads/Pagebound are reading to see what they are reading and if would rate them simlarly. Can you guess that I have started on a list of those also?

As you can see, I just want to read everything at the moment. I want to start reading all the books and I can’t wait to start. I guess making book lists are a great way for me to really light the reading spark. It only comes with the problem that I might not really know what to pick up next of them…
