The Other Side of Dawn – John Marsden
Original title – The Other Side of Dawn
Earlier books in the series: Tomorrow When The War Began, The Dead of The Night, The Third Day The Frost, Darkness Be My Friend, Burning For Revenge and The Night Is For Hunting.
As d-day is coming closer, Ellie and her friends have been given special orders from a New Zealand commando who has been sent by Colonel Finnley. They have to attack as many places as hard as they can to try re-gain what was once their country. During the attempt of blowing up a petrol station the group is split up, Ellie ends up in a chase and boards a train only to be captured by the soldiers. Everytime she asks about her friends she gets the response that her friends have been killed.
I have read this series right from the beginning and have enjoyed every moment of it. As I neared the end I began to wonder how Marsden would end it. He did it in a way that I wasn’t expecting, but didn’t really fulfill what I had wanted. I look forward to ready the Ellie Chronicles to see where the story goes from here.
