I decided this weekend that I wanted to join Bookoplathon in September, the idea of choosing books from a Monopoly inspired book board game intrigued me.
I printed my board, the community shelf cards and the chance cards and started rolling the dices. I decided that I am going to do the variant where I roll dices as I go through the month, which means I don’t pick all my books at once. Since Bookoplathon started the 1st of September, I was already five days behind.

I was at my parents house during the game board setup so I went for a dice hunt. I found one in a bookshelf and stole the other one from a game (funnily enough, a kind of monopoly game). I chose to have a little stone as my game piece.

The first roll gave me five and I landed on dark cover. Here I could choose both of the two books I were currently reading (both started in September so I decided I could count them in the reading challenge). Before deciding which book I wanted to choose, I rolled once more.

This roll gave me two fives and I landed on middle grade. This was good, this meant that the dark cover pick was The Case of the Lame Canary by Erle Stanley Gardner and the middle grade pick was Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce. Since the two dices had the same number, the rules said that I had to roll again – so I did.

The dices moved me five steps and I landed on first in a series. For this prompt, I chose Alanna – The First Adventure.
The Case of the Lame Canary is a book that has been in my possession for quite some time. Since I was in the mood for a Mason mystery (and started it the day before), this was an easy pick. I seem to be re-reading the The Immortals series almost once a year, and when I found it in my audiobook service with a nice narrator – it was no brainer to start reading it. I was very pleased when I could fit it into one of my prompts (it actually fitted all three prompts but I picked one book for each). Then we had Alanna. I found three books in the Alanna series earlier this year, book 2-4, second hand. I felt like re-reading them and since the first is available as an ebook at my audiobook service, this seemed like a simple choice.
There are some other books that I have planned to read this month that I hope I can squeeze into fitting the prompts. There are the two book club picks for this month: Stanna hos mig (Eng. title: Stay with me) by Ayòbámi Adébáyò and Maigret på semester (Eng. title: Maigret’s Holiday) by Georges Simenon. I have also been thinking about taking part in Lala’s Buzzwordathon where one is supposed to read books with the word Night in the title. I have Shakespeares A Midsummer Night’s Dream (that is also on my bookchallenge for this year) and Cherry Ames Nattsköterska (Eng. title: Cherry Ames Night Supervisor) bu Julie Tatham.
All these books seems to be about a month worth of reading, but we’ll see how this reading month turnes out!
