I’m currently reading Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConnaghy, a book we read in the book circle in autumn last year but I hadn’t the opportunity to read. My feeling then was that it wasn’t a loss that I couldn’t finish it, I would probably have given it a very low rating but I’ve seen it popping up in different places and I thought that I could give it a try. And also, it’s the only book in our book circle that I haven’t given a rating so I wanted to fix that.

On the complete opposite side of genres and things, I’m also reading Mermaid in Manhattan by Jessica Gadziala. This is a book I haven’t heard anything about and I picked it up on a whim in a bookstore in the beginning of the summer. I was fully intending to finish it during my time off from work but then I borrowed a lot of library books (that I still haven’t read) and created lists and read completely different things. It’s a fluffy book that doesn’t take itself too seriously and even though I’m pondering a little over how a talking pelican can whistle, I’m deciding not to take it too seriously as well.

Last weekend, M and I watched the movie Project Hail Mary adapted from the book with the same name by Andy Weir. I fully recommend both book and movie, they were good, but if you are thinking about reading the book – do it first. The book fill in some gaps that the movie leaves out and is a little better than the movie.

It’s my birthday today. I had a really lovely day that ended with a nice dinner with my family. I was then gifted these lovely editions of Perry Mason books. The top two; Den halvsovande hustrun and The Case of the Half-Wakened Wife are the same book but in Swedish and English. Aren’t they gorgeous all of them? I need to pick up a Gardner book soon!
