City of Bones – Cassandra Clare
Original title: City of Bones
I give this book 5 stars out of 5 possible.
The Mortal Instruments #1
City of Bones is the first book in The Mortal Instruments series. The other books in the series are called City of Ashes, City of Glass and City of Fallen Angels. And there’s going to be at least two more books. I think they’re going to be called City of Lost Souls (released in May 2012) and City of Heavenly Fire (September 2013).
It all starts when Clary is at a party and becomes a witness for a murder. It’s the first time she meets Jace, Alec and Isabelle. There’s something special about them; her best friend Simon can’t see them and they’re covered in some odd markings. And then her mother goes missing. What’s really going on?
I’ve seen mostly good stuff about this book. I think it’s easy to like this book. But it was really hard to explain what it is about.
I don’t know what to say about this book. I really like it, but I don’t know what makes it good. There’s no “girl meets boy, falls madly in love at first sight and can’t live without him”, I like that. I love the characters, the irony, the environment, the twists, the unexpected – you never knew what was going to happen. It kind of has everything.
Cassandra Clare is simply awesome at writing. And I hope it get’s translated to Swedish soon so more people in Sweden will read it. Can’t wait to read the next book!
I definitely recommend this book!
