The Chosen One

The Chosen One – Carol Lynch Williams

Original title: The Chosen One

I give this book 3.5 stars out of 5 possible.

Hyra is a thirteen-year-old girl who has grown up in an isolated community. To her it’s absolute normal that her father has three wives and twenty children – with two more on the way. They live very strict and what the Prophet says are the rules. No-one can know about her secret visits to the mobile library, or about her meetings with Joshua – it’s forbidden! But when when the Prophet announce that she’s going to marry her sixty-year-old uncle (her father’s brother!), she has to make her decision.

I think this book was okay to read. It’s a different story, something new for me. I like books that are something else, about something no-one has written about before. The Chosen One had an easy language and was easy written. I liked it.

Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen

Original title: Pride and Prejudice

I give this book 5 stars our of 5 possible.

A classic book. Mr. Bingley, a rich, young and handsome man arrives to the neighbourhood with his dear friend Mr. Darcy. Everyone in the area finds Mr. Darcy as a boring and self-important person, but everyone likes Mr. Bingley. Mrs. Bennet, the mother of the main character, can’t wait to get Mr. Bingley married to one of her daughters.

Jane Austen was a brilliant author! Not everyone can write about everyday-stuff and get it to be interesting for the reader. She more describes the people in the book than the time they’re living in, which I think is one of the reasons why it’s timeless. There’s been more than one movie and TV-series produced based on this book. The story is working in any time at any place, such as the movie “Bride and Prejudice”.

I completely love this book! Absolute worth reading.

Go Ask Alice

Go Ask Alice – Anonymous

Original title: Go Ask Alice

Everything started with LSD in a soft drink in a party game. Alice gets addicted to drugs, runs away to start a new life and writes about it in her diary. You follow her fight to get clean. Based on a true story.

We got to read this book as an English assignment. At first I felt a bit bad because I hate reading this kinds of books, but even though it’s a horrible story I believe that it is good to have read it. The story is placed in the USA during the 70th, before they started to know so much about drugs.

Go Ask Alice isn’t a book I would re-read but I think I’m a bit glad that I read it. Good book – but I hate it.

The Host

The Host – Stephenie Meyer

Original title: The Host

I give this book 5 start out of 5 possible

Wanderer, an invading soul has been given Melanie’s body. She is an experienced soul, this is the seventh planet she’s on, but this time it’s not working as it should. Melanie doesn’t want to leave the body. Melanie fills Wanderers thoughts of memories of Jared, together they go searching for the man they love – hoping that he’s still alive, human.

This is the kind of book that’s so hard to explain what it is about, but so amazing when you read it. I love this book and it’s the third time I read it. I’ve read it once in Swedish and twice in English. Absolute something you can re-read!

Fnissarnas hämd

Fnissarnas hämd – Roddy Doyle

Original title: The Giggler Treatment

I give this book 5 stars out of 5 possible.

Varje gång någon vuxen är elak mot ett barn är fnissarna där och tittar. Då får man fnissarnas behandling; hundbajs.

Jag måste säga att jag gillade Fnissarnas hämd mer nu än när jag läste den första gången för ett par år sedan. Även om man skulle kunna tro att det är en barnbok anser jag att den lika mycket är en bok för äldre. Absolut läsvärd!

Awakened

Awakened – P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

Original title: Awakened

I give this book 4 stars out of 5 possible.

Awakened is the 8th book in the series about Zoey. The earlier books are Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, Untamed, Hunted, Tempted, and Burned. The next book is called Destined,I think it’s going to be released in November.

When I started reading this book, I thought that it was the last one in the series. But as it turned out later, it wasn’t. I’ve got at least one more nice book in this series to read.

The Undomestic Goddess

The Undomestic Goddess – Sophie Kinsella

Original title: The Undomestic Goddess

I give this book 5 stars out of 5 possible.

Samantha runs away from her office when she discovers that she has made a big mistake. She knocks on a door to a big house to ask for a glass of water. The owners of the house believes that she’s applying for the housekeeper job and hires her. There’s just one problem. She doesn’t know how to take care of a home.

I’ve read this book one or two times in Swedish before I read it in English and I just love it! In Sweden it’s called Karriär & köksbesvär, which means something like “career & kitchen problems”. I think Sophie Kinsella is a really good writer. If you like girly books, read it!

Den glömda trädgården

Den glömda trädgården – Kate Morton

Original title: The Forgotten Garden

I give this book 5 start out of 5 possible.
