I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You

I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You – Ally Carter

Original title: I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You (2006)

Series: Gallagher Girls #1

Other books in this series: Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy, Don’t Judge a Girl by Her Cover, Only the Good Spy Young, Out of Sight, Out of Time.

Cammie is not just any girl. She is in training to become a spy. She might be able to speak 14 languages, hack into a computer and know how to kill someone in a number of different ways but she has never been in love -and obviouslut this is what happens in this novel.

This is a novel with a lot of humour. And it is about spies. And on a boarding school. A good combination. I have always liked reading novels about spies and boarding schools. And who does not like humour?

I find the language quite easy-read. In a good way. Not all easy-read books are good. I mean it in the way that it is a nice language that is easy to understand for me as a non-English-native person.

I am trying to figure out what to say about who the novel is built up. This is the first novel in a series. Quite early in the book I got a feeling on how the series were going to be continued, but not in this book because that would be too early. What I am saying is that I got this feeling about how the series is going to turn out which made this book a bit predictable. Not in a bad way, though. I might be wrong about my feeling. The series might turn out completely different to what I think and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This is a novel that was just enough. It was not fabulous but not bad. It was a nice read that made me smile. A book I recommend.

Mockingjay

Mockingjay – SuzanneCollins

Original Title: Mockinjay

Once again Suzanne Collins has not let her readers down with the adventure that Katniss Everdeen has taken us on.

though this time she isn’t in the hunger games I bet at some point she wishes she was. As she goes to war against the capitol in order to fight for the people of the districts rights it is not safe at all.

As she leads the way known as the Mockinjay she is a major target by the council and every corner she turns is full of danger.

I was actually a little disappointed with the ending of this series but Collins still did well. There was just something missing and I can’t quite put my finger on it, but once again I congratulate her on her amazing work in writing The Hunger Games

Catching Fire

Original title: Catching Fire

Books in the series: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockinjay

Once I finished The Hunger Games I instantly reached for the second book in the trilogy Catching Fire and couldn’t put it down either.

After defying the capitol in the 74th annual hunger games Katniss’s family and everyone close to her is in danger.

This year is a famous quarter quell of the hunger games and like every twenty five years something major is planned to happen in the hunger games, this year any past tributes are sent back into the games. So Katniss and Peeta have found themselves back in the worst place possible.

Though this year things have changed.

The Hunger Games

Image

The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins

Original title: The Hunger Games

Books in the series: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay

I read this series after my sister and a friend suggested it to me and now i am completely obsessed.

The Hunger Games is an annual event held every year by the government that runs Panem to remind the people of what would happen if they were to rebel again.

Katniss Everdeen takes place for her sister Primrose Everdeen whose name is called out to be the girl tribute from district 12.

She is thrown into an arena with twenty three other tributes as they must fight to the death with only one survivor who will leave the arena. She enters with her only real skill of being able to shoot an arrow and knowledge of being able to hunt and survive in the wild.

The book is not short of a little romance either as the boy tribute Peeta Mellark from district 12 admits his love for her just before they are to enter the arena.

I couldn’t put this book down and picked up the next in the series straight away. I highly recommend this trilogy to any reader.

Incurable

                                                                                               Incurable – John Marsden

Original title: Incurable

Books in the series: While I Live, Incurable, Circle of Flight

After continuing to read the Ellie chronicles I couldn’t put the book down, I got my hands on this as soon as I culd.

The second book in the Ellie Chronicles was just as good as the first, the story doesn’t stop here. After Ellie has finally started to get her life back on track her adopted brother, Gavin’s step dad before he came into Ellie’s family has returned, and he’s not happy.

After being involved in Liberation and raids across the border some good news about Gavin’s lost sister during the war and that they’ve been invited to visit. Except when they arrive his step father is there ready to murder Gavin for the information that he knows about the past.

Once again Marsden has done a brilliant job in holding his readers attention through the entire novel and keeps the reader wanting more at the end. I dread when I read the last book ever. I don’t know how he’ll end it but I know it will be amazing.

While I Live

ImageWhile I Live – John Marsden

Original Title: While I Live

Books in the series:While I Live, Incurable, Circle Of Flight

The Ellie Chronicles is the trilogy which follows after the Tomorrow Series had a lot to live up to after reading the previous seven books: Tomorrow When The War Began, The Dead Of The Night, The Third Day The Frost, Darkness Be My Friend, Burning For Revenge, The Night Is For Hunting and The Other Side Of Dawn. And I must say so far it has done really well.

I don’t want to spoil for anyone who hasn’t already red the Tomorrow Series, and I recommend you do, so I’ll keep this to as little information as possible.

Just when Ellie thinks that her she can finally be normal again and get back into the rhythm of life something she never thought would happen occurs. And it is up to her once again to sustain herself and her adopted brother Gavin as they have little to no support from anyone else. Though Ellie is trying to get on with her life it is harder than what she once expected it gets even more complicated as rebellious groups keep getting her to join in raids over the border which are ultimately life threatening.

What Happened to Goodbye

What Happened to Goodbye – Sarah Dessen

Original title: What Happened to Goodbye (2011)

Earlier my favourite Sarah Dessen-novel was The Truth About Forever. Now, I’m not sure about that.

I like the plot in this novel; to find yourself. Mclean’s father works with reforming restaurants. That means moving around. To every place they move Mclean is someone new. She gets the chance to get a new start. Who is she this time?

I have been wanting to read this book for a long time. I was a bit surprised to find it at my local library. Of course I had to take it with me home.

At first, I was not sure if I would like the person Mclean was changing into. It was mostly based on the glass of beer she held in the beginning. I do not like the “it is normal for teenagers to drink, every teenager does that” that a lot of book seems to have and I was afraid that this was going to another novel like that. But I liked the person that Mclean changed into.

It is not a fast-going novel. Things does not happen fast. But I think it is just as it should be. Finding yourself is not something you do over a night.

I think the characters are believable and it has a good language. As a non-native English-speaker I did not found it hard to understand the language.

If there is something I disliked (or liked a little less, it was not really bad) about this book, it was the relationship between Mclean and her mother. Fine, Mclean wanted to be left alone to figure things out between them. But she did not have to be mean. I guess her mother should have listened more to Mclean, but I think Mclean could have handled the situation better. Or what do you think?

What Happened to Goodbye is a novel about finding yourself. I really liked this novel and I recommend it. If you like Sarah Dessen’s other novels, I think you will like this one too.

Original title: The Uncommon Reader

Still in my rating-changing-process. It’s going kind of slow.

Sen är hon fast in böckernas våld.

Rekommenderas.

Järnprinsessan

Järnprinsessan – Julie Kagawa

Original title: The Iron Daughter

Series: Iron Fey #2

Other books in this series in Swedish so far: Järnkonungen, Järndrottningen

In English: The Iron King, Winter’s Passage (#1.5), The Iron QueenSummer’s Crossing (#3.5), The Iron Knight

My grading is going thought a changing-process, so I’m not going to grade this book.
