Dead as a Doornail is the fifth book in the series about Sookie Stackhouse. The tv-series True Blood is based on this series.

I think that this series gets better. In this book, there’s a killier running around (again). And it needs to be solved. I love how the characters are built. Even though it’s a bit silly that every non-human guy – or at least a little bit non-human, are attracted to Sookie.

I love the name of this book, and the phrase “Dead as a doornail” is actually used in the book. I like books with humor.

I like the language. I find it quite easy and it doesn’t take that long to read one of the books. But it’s not too easy, it doesn’t feel simple. It’s a big vocabulary and it variates, just as it should. Charlaine Harris does a good job writing these books.

Dead to the World is the fourth book in the series about Sookie Stackhouse.

I like that this book is back in Bon Temps. After two books taking place in different cities it’s nice to be back in the home area – even though I’ve never been there, it just feels like more home in the series. I had no idea what this book was going to be about (other than Sookie Stackhouse and her friends) when I started and I got a nice surprise. I liked how it started, unexpected but quite nice idea, even though it wasn’t so realistic at times – but it’s fantasy, right? As usual, there’s a mystery to be solved + a weird situation that needs to be fixed. I love that I don’t know what’s going to happen. You don’t have a clue who is behind the mysteries, the one who is responsible.

Definitely a series I’m going to continue reading.

This is the third book about Sookie Stackhouse. It’s the tv-series True Blood is based on.

I actually think that this series is getting better. It’s hard to say what I think about this book without writing about what happens. There’s a quite big change in Sookies life in the beginning that I liked. I thought that it needed a change. You got to meet new people, quite interesting. I thought that it was more “swing” in this book. The story went forward. There were mysteries, twists and everything got explained in the end. I can say that I really enjoyed reading this book. When I’ve read this book I feel like I want to watch the tv-series and see the difference. But there’s this tiny detail that’s stopping me: the non-clothing part. We’ll se how it goes. Until I decide, I’m going to continue reading the books anyway.

Bianca’s parents become teachers at the boarding school Evernight. Bianca does not want to go there and attempts to run away before the school year even starts. She doesn’t belong there. She would probably have gone through with it if it wasn’t for meeting Lucas.

The sequel to Evernight is called Stargazer.

There might be a slight spoiler-alert here. Even though I’m trying not to write it too obvious. You might not have a clue what it is about if you haven’t read the book. It’s your decision if you want to continue reading.

Before I started reading this book I only knew “the story is placed at a boarding school”. I like books that takes place at boarding schools and looked forward to reading this book. I have to say that I got a bit disappointed. I got a slight feeling that it was a little fantasy in it, but I didn’t know for sure until “BOM” there is was and suddenly there were a lot of proof that it was. Afterwards I’m not sure if I missed all the signs before the “BOM”, because I’m not a native English speaker, or if they just weren’t there. I thought that the language in the book were pretty easy so I didn’t feel like I were missing out on stuff.

There was one more thing that I didn’t like about this book. It’s how the main character Bianca is built. Even though you get a feeling that Bianca is kind of strong and am able to look out for herself, there’s a guy there who is going to protect her. The guy is always the worse. Oh, right – one more thing I didn’t like. I thought it was kind of hard to believe that Bianca could love him just like that. I find it hard to believe that you get all “I need to be with him”, “why isn’t he talking to me?” after meeting someone one time.

But there was something that made me like the book enough to make me want to read the next book. I want to know what is going to happen.

Prinsessan & tiggarflickan – Kate Brian

I give this book 4 stars out of 5 possible.

Carina avskyr att vara Vinlands kronprinsessa och längtar efter att få åka till Los Angeles för att gå på en rockkonsert (som hon egentligen inte får gå på). Men så träffar hon Julia. Sin dubbergångare, som går med på att byta plats med henne för en dag i utbyte mot pengar så hon kan betala hyran.

Jag blev lite förvånad när jag började läsa Prinsessan & tiggarflickan. Jag var lite rädd att det skulle vara en typisk tjejbok man läser när man är 10-11. På sätt och vis tyckte jag att det var lite en sån bok, men jag tyckte samtidigt att jag inte var för gammal för att läsa den. Den var lite mysig. På ett litet sätt.  Jag trodde att jag visste hur den skulle sluta, men sedan kom en liten twist och jag var inte riktigt säker. Karaktärerna var kanske inte så välutvecklade, men det är en kanske ganska välanvänd historia, och jag tyckte att Kate Brian skrev den på ett bra sätt.

Revolt

I give this book 5 stars out of 5 possible.

Revolt är den tredje och sista delen i hungerspelstrilogin. De två andra böckerna heter Hungerspelen och Fatta eld.

Fatta eld slutade lite med en cliffhanger. Det var inte riktigt ett slut, även om det räckte för den boken. Revolt är annorlunda på många sätt. Många personer förändras på grund av hungerspel och krig. Jag tycker att det är ett intressant ämne att skriva om. För mig utspelar sig det här någon gång i framtiden, hur långt in i framtiden är jag inte säker på. Teknologin verkar vara längre gången än vad vi har idag, men resten av samhället verkar ha gått bakåt. Om man jämför tillvaron i Hungerspelen och hur vi har det i Sverige i dag känns det som att vi har enorm frihet. Samtidigt känns det inte helt osannolikt att det skulle kunna hända. Vi vet vad som hänt i historien, men vi har ingen aning om vad som kommer hända i framtiden.

Jag tycker att hungerspelstrilogin har varit intressant, spännande och helt enkelt omöjlig att lägga ifrån sig.

Fatta eld är den andra boken i trilogin Hungerspelen. Första boken heter Hungerspelen och den tredje och sista boken heter Revolt.

Ahh, den här boken har allt! Spänning, drama, kärlek, förtryck, liv och död. Jag vet inte riktigt hur jag ska beskriva den här boken. Det var lite segt att läsa boken i början. Egentligen skulle jag läsa Revolt, men när jag började läsa den kände jag att inte kom ihåg någonting från Fatta eld, eftersom det var ett tag sedan jag läst den, så jag bestämde mig för att läsa om boken. Så fort jag kommit tillräckligt långt in i boken var det omöjligt att lägga den ifrån mig. Det är en fantastisk fortsättning på Hungerspelen och jag kan säga att jag redan har börjat läsa Revolt innan jag blivit klar med det här inlägget. Hungerspelstrilogin är en serie alla borde läsa!

Tidigare böcker i serien: Artemis Fowl, Artemis Fowl – Det kalla kriget, Artemis Fowl – Evighetskoden, Artemis Fowl – Slipad Opal, Artemis Fowl – De försvunna demonerna och Artemis Fowl – Tidsparadoxen.

Någonting står inte rätt till med Artemis Fowl. Supergeniet har börjat bete sig underligt. Han beter sig som att han har tvångstankar och har någonting speciellt för siffran fem. Dessutom har han plötsligt bestämt sig för att rädda världen med sin nya uppfinning. När han ska visa upp den för en grupp elitvättar på Island går inte riktigt allt som han tänkt sig.

Artemis Fowl är Artemis Fowl. Jag tyckte att den här boken är annorlunda om man jämför med de andra böckerna. Man får se en annan sida av Artemis vänner då han inte riktigt är sig själv och kan rädda alla ur situationen. Man får också lära känna Julius Roots bror, Turnball. Jag tycker om den här boken. Den har humor, är smart och man vet inte riktigt vad som kommer hända. Det är en bok för de som tycker om lite spänning. Go for it!

Kyle Kingsbury har allting. Han är populär, rik och nästan det som är viktigast; han är skitsnygg. Men han är också egoistisk och elak. En dag straffas han för sina elakheter och förvandlas till ett odjur. Det enda sättet att bryta förtrollningen är att hitta sann kärlek, någon som kan älska honom trots hans utseende.

Sagor är alltid bra. Det spelar ingen roll var eller när historien tar plats, bara man får till sin egna lilla knorr på historien. Skönheten och odjuret är inte en saga som jag har träffat på i så många exemplar. Såklart har jag hört historien och vet vad den går ut på. Huvudpersonen är snygg men elak och måste lära sig en läxa – han förtrollas till ett odjur och det enda sättet att bli “normal” igen är att hitta sann kärlek. Men det här är första gången jag läser historien, även om Alex Flinn har satt sin prägel på historien.

Jag gillar hur den här historien är uppbyggd, den är till för att vi ska lära oss någonting (någonting som sagor ofta går ut på); se saker för hur de egentligen är, inte för dess utseende. Jag gillar hur Alex Flinns språk, hur han beskriver saker. Jag vet inte riktigt hur sagans original är så jag vet inte riktigt vad som är Alex Flinns version på saker, men jag tyckte att boken var riktigt bra. Först tyckte jag att boken var lite konstig i början, jag visste inte riktigt vad saker skulle leda till, vad gjorde “chatten” där? Jag visste inte riktigt hur det hände ihop med resten av historien. Men nu i efterhand gillar jag den lilla avstickaren, den var lite kul. Jag gillar hur det utspelar sig i dagens samhälle, det är intressant hur man får in sagor i den verklighet vi lever i. Definitivt värd att läsa om man gillar sagor. Rekommenderas starkt.
